Receiver Operating Curves for Vasc-Alert The Receiver Operating Curve is a way to visualize and quantify the effectiveness of a procedure by graphing the True Positive Rate against the False Positive Rate. The area under the curve (AUC) provides the metric. A procedure with no effectiveness would show a flat line, indicating that for every true positive, the procedure also generated a false positive. The AUC in this case is 50%: half of the graph is under the line. The Receiver Operating Curve for Vasc-Alert captures 82% of the area under its curve, with a goodness of fit (r2) of .995. Generally, AUCs of 90-100% are considered excellent, and AUCs of 80-90% are considered good.
